UK Banking Crisis Gets Personal Following Fred “The Shred” Goodwin

The UK banking crisis and bonuses scandal has just taken a personal turn with a petition being submitted to UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown entitled Tax-Bank-Bonuses. The petition states ”We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to introduce a windfall tax of 100% on bonuses paid to senior bank executives in the upcoming budget. If banks are contractually obliged to pay exorbitant bonuses with money given to them by the taxpayers, then the Government should claim it back through the tax system, because, as everyone knows, bankers do not deserve to receive any money for their greed and incompetence.”

The petition http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Tax-Bank-Bonuses/ has been approved by Downing Street and is already attracting considerable support.

Our position on our own corporate bonuses remains as we posted here.
