Honeymooning in the Riviera is a good idea. Villefranche-sur-Mer and the Cap-Ferrat are fantastic spots for that kind of vacation. Indeed those places are not overcrowded and very nice. From those places you can reach easily Èze village (a village built at 400 meters high above the sea). And don't miss the 3 scenic roads between Nice and Menton, you'll be breathless for sure (Basse, Moyenne and Grande Corniche in French). I live in Nice and I often go there to relax. Don't hesitate to stop in every little place between two major points. That's where you'll see a lot of the neat stuff, free of all the tourist (plus you're going in May so it's right before tourist season).
